We love this place. My only complaint, truly, is that we live too far away to regularly come. The food is fantastic and, based on my experiences in Germany, authentic. The staff are wonderful and service is quick. I love the ambiance. And the mocha torte is divine! Love this place!! I feel at home when we visit!

Ok totally not a planned place but very German vibe. From steins for sale to a band playing German polkas and folk songs. The food is meat and gravy and cabbage. We got the German sampler plate. Most of it was great. The cabbage was both purple and white and tasted as you would expect it to taste. No real surprises in flavor profile. The meat dishes were a different thing. From schnitzel to other things I can't pronounce or spell they had their own heartiness and gravy. The food was again hearty and what you expect when you see it. The meat was tender and the gravy was thick. Good stuff. The real prize was the Black Forest cake. The chocolate cake was light and fluffy and the frosting delicate and flavorful the strip of cherry sauce was tart and perfect. Amazing. Service was awesome as well. You should stop here and eat you wont regret the experience

We got takeout and it was still amazing. Weiner snitzel with dumplings and gravy was divine. If your German in find yourself in I 81 near Roanoke per Lexington VA. Stop in. Polka bands on Friday night too. Heil Edelweiss

Although restaurant was busy we were seated immediately. Our server took our drinks and food order and I think we got our food order in less than 10 minutes. Everything was piping hot and perfectly prepared. Restaurant was lavishly decorated for Christmas. Band with William Hayes, one of the best accordion players in the area was cooking! Unfortunately we were seated behind the band so I couldn't watch them. We enjoyed our meal so much we are returning next week to treat friends.

If you want authentic German cooking, friendly and efficient service, atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in a Bavarian cabin, then this is your place The before and after pictures should say it all

Absolutely divine german cooking. So good. Makes me miss Wiesbaden. I'll be back next time I'm in the area.

This is one of my favorite spots and I almost always choose to go here for my Birthday! Last night was no exception. We took the family and had such a great time. I chose the German Sampler which is 5 different samples of their scrumptious dishes. Then Jagerschnitzel and Weinerschniztel for others. Bread and Rice puddings are so delicious too. Family style dining with the sides. Not as big on the cabbage, but the spaetzle is authentic and awesome!! Such a cute log cabin makes you feel like you are in the Black Forest! Service is friendly and attentive. Highly encourage visiting them!

We are regulars here, well as regular as we can be given that we live an hour and a half away... But every opportunity we can, we dine here. Whether camping in the area, Cabin trips to the mountains, etc. will go out of our way if need be, because the food is that good. We began dining here several years ago, and our first visit was a wonderful surprise - such authenticity, delightful food, lovely service, and a cozy, truly German atmosphere - all in one lovely place. We've tried many things on the menu over the years, my husband still favors the goulash and gets it every time, even if to go so that he can try something different! The homemade Kaiser rolls are exceptional, the homemade Green Godess salad dressing can be purchased in a bottle as well, and they give it to you in a cool German beer bottle. Really everything on the menu was good, we've had the schnitzel, we've had the beef tips, I've had the fish, paprika, chicken, spinach pie... I can't find fault in anything, and it always makes choosing a bit of a dilemma! Nothing has changed here and that's the best part about it. The staff has been the same staff for years, the menu is the same and we love that, it's a tradition that we can rely on time after time and we haven't had a single visit over the years that hasn't been wonderful.

Found this place on accident on google maps on a road trip. Being of german decent and having lived there, I never pass up an opportunity to try a new place. The portions are massive. They give you basically two schnitzels for a single dinner order. They also do family style sides which was neat. Great atmosphere with option for outdoor seating. Looks like it could be tight when they are busy (didn't seem too big inside), but our waiter was attentive and helpful. Would stop here again for sure.

So you get off this exit not expecting to transport yourself to Germany. We were just looking for someplace to get a decent meal on the way home, but we were transported to Germany from the music to the environment to the food and a very good German beer list at least according to my brother-in-law Order entrée and it comes with all these wonderful sides. They are served family style. We did not get to take dessert because we had too much food and maybe we ordered potato pancakes appetizers that were also very good if you're looking for a road trip this could be a fun short trip.
